SILVERFORK SKIMO TEAMS
Comp Team
This group is meant for those who want to compete in skimo races at the national level and international levels. Athletes must be confident intermediate/advanced alpine skiers. Must be able to ski steep, challenging terrain, and willing to work hard to reach stretch goals throughout the season. Generally comp team participants should be able to skin, transition, and descend at a 1,500 vertical feet per hour pace and complete two laps.
RACING/TRAINING
We focus on skimo-specific skills, endurance, and race preparation. Training takes place twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and some Friday, Saturday, or Sunday team morning or afternoon sessions. The formal season starts at the end of October through early April. Comp team athletes are provided with a 6 day a week training plan for the season and are recommended to complete 2-3 days per week of training on their own.
The team will travel to multiple in state and out of state races. (Race fees, travel expenses are not included in team fees).
RACE GEAR Required
Full Skimo race gear is required for the comp team. This includes 160cm/150cm race skis and a generous range of motion skimo race boot. Brakes are required for the race season at all USA Skimo sanctioned races and any international events.

This is a good option for our younger athletes, those getting into the sport, or those who have been doing Skimo but don’t want the pressure of racing.

Training
Once a week on Tuesday or twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday.
